We want to welcome Crystal Schultz to the WhyHR team as an HR generalist!

Crystal will be working directly with multiple client accounts and assisting elsewhere as needed due to our team approach to serving client needs. In her role as an HR generalist, she will support clients with a variety of HR needs, from data entry to helping with handbooks and answering questions about employee issues.

Crystal came to the human resources field by way of being an executive assistant who often crossed over into HR-related tasks. She has 15 years of experience in executive assistant and human resources roles at a telecommunications company and a social services nonprofit.

Her favorite aspect of human resources is building relationships with employees. In her previous role, she frequently visited employees around the office and focused on how to support them in their positions. She also regularly checked in with employees to ensure they knew how to best utilize the benefits provided by the company.

She recently returned to the University of Oklahoma as a student to finish a degree in organizational development that she started prior to entering the workforce. Many of her classes have direct application to her work in human resources, and she feels her work experience provides a new prospective on much of what she is learning.

Crystal draws inspiration and direction from her respect for Ruth Bader Ginsberg and has an RGB bobblehead on her desk. When challenges arise, she likes to consider the perspective Ginsberg would have brought to the situation.

She has two sons, ages 14 and 8, and a dog. She enjoys watching science fiction shows and Disney movies with her boys. She is a member of the Oklahoma City Human Resources Society and is currently participating in their emerging leaders program.
