New Employee Spotlight: Michelle Martell

Aug 14, 2025 | HR for Small Business

The whyHR team is growing again! We’re excited to introduce Michelle Martell as our new bilingual HR assistant. Michelle brings a decade of experience in staffing and recruiting along with a passion for helping people feel supported and informed at work, especially those who might face language barriers.

In her role at whyHR, Michelle supports our HR consultants with day-to-day tasks like onboarding, offer letters, and job descriptions. She also serves as a bridge for Spanish-speaking employees across various industries to help ensure that every employee feels seen, heard, and fully informed.

Before joining our team, Michelle built her career in third-party recruiting, starting in engineering and manufacturing placements. As her career progressed, she began training new recruiters and eventually led a team of recruiters. Over time, she realized that managing people wasn’t the long-term path she wanted. What she found most meaningful was connecting with individuals and supporting them through moments of transition.

That clarity led her to shift her focus toward HR support and begin pursuing a graduate degree in counseling. Michelle is currently earning her master’s degree in counseling and plans to become a licensed therapist in the next few years.

Joining the whyHR team is a great fit: meaningful work, a flexible environment that supports her goals, and the chance to help people every day.

Outside of work and school, Michelle spends time with her 10-year-old son, Oliver, and their much-loved dog, Divvy. She’s also a big fan of hot yoga and regularly attends hot yoga classes.

We’re thrilled to have Michelle on board and look forward to seeing the impact she’ll have on our clients and their teams.
