Meet Our New Team Member

Apr 15, 2022 | HR for Small Business

We are excited to introduce you to the newest member of the WhyHR team, Nina Utsey.

In her role as HR consultant, Nina will be a resource and first point of contact for supporting our clients with their human resource consulting needs. Whether answering a quick procedural question about benefits, assisting with the new-hire process, or helping with workplace conflicts, Nina partners with clients to help them solve problems and develop their people strategy.

Nina comes to WhyHR with more than 10 years of experience in human resources, having worked both in corporate roles and as a consultant. She earned her MBA in human resources in 2009 and holds both the PHR and SHRM-CP certifications.

Her previous experience includes HR roles in the retail industry and the food and beverage industry. From starting as an HR generalist to working as the head of an HR department, Nina has experience with payroll and benefits, employee relations, workplace investigations, harassment claims, and EEOC hearings. Nina is excited to bring her extensive experience to the WhyHR team to help our clients with any questions or concerns related to human resources.

In her free time, Nina enjoys being a mom to her two sons and spending time with her family and friends. She is passionate about volunteering and donating her time and resources to others. She currently sits on the board of Seton Center, a nonprofit in the Kansas City area that is dedicated to helping neighbors who are in need. If you are a fan of Family Feud, you may have seen the Utsey family. Nina and her family members appeared on the show in 2017.

Nina lives in Kansas City and will support WhyHR clients located in multiple states via phone, email, and video calls.
