Meet Alex West: whyHR’s Newest HR Consultant

The whyHR team is excited to welcome Alex West as our newest HR Consultant! With 14 years of HR experience, Alex has extensive expertise in employment regulations, compliance, benefits administration, and talent management. She has held a variety of HR roles, from representative to senior analyst, and has a deep understanding of the challenges businesses face in balancing compliance with employee needs.

Before joining whyHR, Alex spent over a decade in corporate HR, primarily in the insurance industry. While she valued the experience, she was eager for a more hands-on approach — working directly with small businesses to provide personalized HR support. Alex is passionate about developing customized policies and helping companies create a culture that attracts and retains employees. Her ability to blend technical HR expertise with a strong sense of empathy makes her an invaluable resource for businesses striving to support their employees while staying compliant.

At whyHR, Alex works one-on-one with clients to ensure their HR practices support their business goals and provides the tools needed to navigate complex workplace issues. Whether she’s updating employee handbooks, refining policies, or advising on talent management, Alex enjoys helping businesses create strong, functional HR processes that support both their teams and long-term success.

Alex earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from the University of Central Oklahoma and obtained her SHRM-CP certification in 2018. She is passionate about training and development after having transformed her once-dreaded fear of public speaking into a skill she now enjoys using to educate and empower others.

Outside of work, Alex is a dedicated hockey mom and spends much of her free time at the rink.
