About WhyHR
We’re who great businesses hire for their HR. Find out why.
whyHR is the HR department your business has always needed. We offer an outside, independent, and unbiased perspective on human resources. And since we’re not in-house, we don’t get caught up in office politics or power dynamics. We guide businesses as they establish, grow, stabilize, change, hire, and yes – unfortunately, sometimes – fire.
But HR isn’t just about paperwork, onboarding, and dispute resolution. Sure, sometimes we’re policy-makers and accountability partners, but we’re also counselors and therapists – people you can bring in for difficult or important conversations to help ensure they stay constructive and productive. Most often, though, we’re facilitators of great communication and advocates for positive, collaborative, and healthy workplaces.
We like to think we’re cultural ambassadors. That’s why.
We practice what we teach.
Our values fuel our own workplace culture.
WHO. (We value people.)
We value people, specifically their ability to work together to solve problems in service to others. The people at an organization, and the way we treat those people, are the only differentiator between businesses and organizations that offer similar products or functions. We strive to be better people and to help others be better, too.
WHAT. (We value culture.)
What we do – HR – doesn’t have to be boring, intimidating, or stifling. We believe great HR should fuel culture, give life to meetings, and provide excitement and security to teams. We help create and sustain great workplaces, and that’s something to be excited about.
WHERE. (We value space.)
Our employees deserve space to feel heard, to work thoughtfully, to hash things out, to be vulnerable, and even to be left alone. When we’re on, we’re absolutely, completely in it with you. But all that hard work deserves to be balanced with peace, hobbies, time off, and flexibility to take care of our families and the unexpecteds that happen to everyone.
WHEN. (We value productivity.)
Don’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry – you’ll make bad decisions. Similarly, don’t try to handle an HR crisis without a plan – you’re bound to make an impulsive decision or a hasty comment. We train, coach, mentor, and implement practices and policies to help our clients think through the foreseeable events your business may face, so when something happens, we’re ready to handle it responsibly.
HOW. (We value collaboration.)
There is no off-the-shelf solution – not one worth following, anyway. We work with our clients to help build best practices, trainings, and policies that reflect their vision for their companies – not ours. That takes collaboration, vulnerability, and trust, and we don’t take those for granted.
WHY. (We value intentionality.)
Ah, the best for last. It’s so important to us, it’s in our name. We’re enamored with why people do what they do, make the decisions they make, and find themselves in the situations they’re in. Only by finding the why within ourselves and our clients can we responsibly deploy the who, what, where, when, and how. Every decision, conversation, and solution has to have purpose and intention, which starts with knowing and understanding yours.
The why is why.
We’re who great businesses hire for their HR. (Just like yours.)
