We’re excited to welcome a new team member to Why HR! Linda Roberts recently joined our team as a bilingual assistant.

In this role, she will be helping answer client questions and helping new employees of our clients complete their paperwork. She’ll also be helping employees during orientation and ensuring they know what resources are available to them.

Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Linda came to Oklahoma in 2011 to study psychology at Southwestern Christian University. She has previously worked in case management for a behavioral health company, and she first became interested in human resources when talking with her father-in-law, who works in the field. She’s passionate about helping others, and working as a bilingual assistant in HR provides lots of opportunity to help both clients and their employees.

With her background in psychology, Linda has extensive people skills and is able to assess when people are uncomfortable or perhaps too scared to ask for help. She knows that individuals with low literacy levels or whose first language is not English can find employment forms especially confusing, and she is eager to help them better understand the forms they’re completing and put them at ease.

She and her husband have a two-year-old son, and they enjoy going to parks and the zoo and exploring the outdoors together. When she’s inside, she enjoys sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

As a fluent Spanish speaker, she can also serve as a resource for any confidential conversations that may require a translator. Many times in businesses with Spanish-speaking staff, employees may need to use a coworker to clearly communicate to their manager if something is an issue, and that becomes a confidentiality risk. It also means employees might not share personal information to get the help they need. By adding a bilingual team member to our staff, Why HR can better serve the full range of clients and their employees.
